April Ross
April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball stars who won medals at more than one Olympics. She is set to compete in Tokyo for her third Olympic medal with Alix Klineman, a first-time Olympian. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic Gold. Since she's 39 years old and has a long way to go, this could be her last shot. She is still confident nevertheless. Ross said on NBC Boston: "If we try our best, and even If we play our best I'm sure we'll get the gold medal." That's why I'm taking the chance also. Ross born in 1982 and was raised in Costa Mesa California with her mother and sister, first began participating in sports at Newport Harbor High School. Ross was a competitive athlete in a variety of activities while at Newport Harbor High School. Apart from indoor volleyball, she was a basketball player and also ran track as a pre-collegiate athlete. When she played in the final sport, she clearly stood out. In her college profile, she was an outside-hitting hitter, middle blocker, as well as a setter during her volleyball career during high school. Her efforts were recognized when she was named 1999 Gatorade's Circle Of Champions National Players of the Year. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month award was also won by her due to her volleyball skills. Ross and Klineman began their relationship in 2017 however, Ross was a beach scene star for years before. Actually, Ross has won several important tournaments throughout her career together with two other partners. One is a volleyball legend. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 to 2013. Along together with Kessy Ross was awarded the World Championship in 2009, while racing on the international circuit. They were awarded a silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) as well as Misty Maytreanor took home gold overtaking them. Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor retired. They won the bronze medal in beach volleyball during the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was a college player for USC Trojans before her pro career. She played in high school, as well as before hitting the beaches as a professional. Her time at USC was awe-inspiring. She was an All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of Year in the year 2000, a young freshman. The Trojans were also able to make it to the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a significant personal loss in her sophomore, yet was successful in achieving the All-American distinction. During her final two seasons with the Trojans in the program, she led them to victories by winning consecutive national championships. In 2003-2004, Ross was named as the most successful collegiate female volleyball player in America through the Honda Sports Award. Ross had been an international studies major at USC. Margie Ross wasn't able to watch her daughter's rise to the beach volleyball spotlight. Ross's mother passed away from cancer of the breast when she was a sophomore in USC. However, she keeps her parents close to her the heart. Margie, on the beach and in daily life, continues to inspire her.
